The Black Russian cocktail is a sweet coffee and vodka cocktail. The Kahlua coffee flavored liqueur is sweet and rich tasting while the vodka is crisp and clean. A great combination that has stood the test of time.
This classic cocktail is closely related to the White Russian which has cream added to it to make it white. Kahlua has been used in a cocktail of this style as in a Dirty Mother-Kahlua and Brandy, Brave Bull-Kahlua and Tequila. The Black Russian is made with cubed ice. The larger the ice cube the slower it melts, which means less water in your cocktail, however the Black Russian can be made with crushed ice which melts very fast to give your cocktail a transition from strong to mild, as you are sipping it
